World of Beethoven

Hello everyone,

I hope you are OK with me writing in english, since there are both Swedish and International viewers that are watching the videos.

I. like all of you probably, am missing the live concerts so much. But you know what? These videos, where I get to interact and hear from you, feel like they will make the return with "real" concerts feel even better, because we are keeping in touch. So, I like it, I really do.

Of course, there will be a Part 2 of Chopin, and maybe even a Part 3. But I would like to start thinking about other projects too. One is a documentary on Dmitry Shostakovich, not least because the history is so interesting during his time.

I would like to know, do you have any ideas to share? Let us know in this thread!

Hej Per! Fint att det blir ytterligare ett, kanske två program om Chopin. Dmitry Shostakovich låter mycket spännande, finns mycket att lära. Men så har vi gamle Beethoven. Jag lyssnar ju ständigt till dina sonater.
Det skulle vara mycket roligt att få en Beethovenserie med historia därtill, om det nu går att få fram sådan. Kunde då bli flera program. Över huvud taget är det här ett mycket trevligt sätt att lyssna på och lära sig om musik. Konserthusen sänder också musik i dag, men det kan inte på långa när jämföras med det här, som känns så mycket personligare.

Shostakovich, that is a great idea which certainly feels very special to me, as I spent so much time last year to learn his lovely "Dances of the Dolls" to perform in our only concert that year. Covid safe streaming and everything. It got totally cancelled the day before broadcast because one of the participants had to test for covid symptoms ... (negative result later, nobody got ill) I was devastated, though. So much preparation and then it went were everything else seemed to go last year - down the t..... Anyway, I had prepared a little presentation and everything, so I also read about him and you are right, it is quite intriguing. It is also interesting that the tougher his life became, the happier his music got. Dances of the Dolls is a remarkable, delightful little work, in my opinion a bit underrated because of its simplicity. And such a striking contrast to his very, very demanding symphonies.

I may still get a chance to perform it in May, but actually I lost the spark after this "västgötaklimax", so instead I hope to get my Sibelius together until then. And! I boldly suggest Sibelius as one composer you can choose for your series. I really haven't heard much of him but I think his music is very special and I understand why they are so proud of him in Finland.

Sibelius is indeed bold...there is not an abundance of piano music. That said, I love his music and had a period when I listened to the second symphony every day, but I think a program about him will have be in the future when this channel has a larger audience overall audience, and I can make sure that a decent amount of people will tune in!

Dina berättande program är oslagbara när det kommer till innehållsrik underhållning! Nu har du fått så många förslag på tonsättare att jag knappt vågar komma med ett till - nämligen Tjajkovskij (om han nu inte redan har önskats någon annan stans). Även han har ju ett fascinerande liv. Och så är ju hans musik så HÄRLIGT superromantisk.

Ravels ljuvliga tonmattor, Brittens nästan lite meditativa havsmotiv .... Well, dom är ju hur många som helst. Och spännande livsöden finns det gott om.

I just discovered your site and got the "Package: All instruction and seminars (1 month)"" because I am interested in the Pathetique sonata. Throughout the first video /Lesson: "Pathétique Sonata" first movement/ you refer to another video on how to practice, but I cannot find any link or package for that, not even under the other subscription. Then of course I am interested in a video about the third movement. So I think this is what you should do next :-)
